Dale W. Edgar

Associate Professor Dale Edgar has over 30 years of experience as a physiotherapist and researcher. For more than 25 years, he has specialized in improving rehabilitation for burn survivors and trauma patients in multiple Australian hospitals. His deep involvement with burn patients began in 1996, where he would often spend 3 to 4+ hours a day with patients, providing care and rehabilitation. Noticing gaps in post-burn monitoring, he developed a set of tools during his PhD to improve the long-term quality of life for burn survivors. He continues to work towards refining a common set of measures to be used to improve burn care across the world. Thanks to Fiona Wood Foundation, Dale now primarily works for The University of Notre Dame. His future goal is to revolutionize rehabilitation for trauma and burn patients by focusing on accurate and systematic measurement of outcomes. Dale believes by leveraging large clinical datasets, modern healthcare systems will benefit from applying patient-centric, value-based care which will flow onto better, earlier rehabilitation input and maximize available resources.
